Goodbye, Boys
Length:97 min
Credits:Director: Mikhail Kalik

Synopsis: Set on the eve of World War II, this lyrical and haunting film tells the story of three friends - two Russian, one Jewish - who join the army. Wartime newsreels lend a gritty reality in the Brezhnev-era "thaw" work.
Director Kalik shys away from epic-sized portrayals of war and focuses instead on its impact on family and friends. His style was considered radical by Soviet authorities, who consigned the film to to the archives and hastened the director's emigration to Israel.
