Synopsis: Winner of the Golden Lion at the 1994 Venice Film Festival, Vive L'amour is at once a deadpan visual comedy and a heart-wrenching portrait of longing, which centers up on an upscale abandoned apartmant in Taipei and three people who pass through its empty rooms. Each of them, real estate agent May, punky street vendor Ah-jung, and gay, morbidly shy burial plot salesman Shiao-Kang, is self-absorbed and pathetically deficient as one of the most brilliant directors of the new Taiwainese cinema, Tsai Ming-Liang has created a riveting portrait of isolation, despair, selfish-ness, and love, which may become a landmark film for his generation.
