Synopsis
Picking up nearly a decade later, this sequel to 2001 focuses on the relationship between American and Soviet space travelers, working together to discover what happened to the first craft, now in orbit around Jupiter. The dangers they face are extreme, the mystery of the obilisque that was investigated in the first film becomes even darker and weirder, and the characterization develops further in this film. Also, we see a re-juvinated HAL9000.
