Synopsis
Director Stuart Gordon achieved fame as a horror director with the witty, and gruesom Re-Animator based on the work by H.P. Lovecraft. Darkly humorous and satrical - an ambitious medical student begins bringing cats and rodents back to life and then graduates to the stiffs of the medical school's morgue. Violent zombies begin crashing through the school's basement laboratories and the film accelerates intoa comical nightmare which amused some critics, but repulsed others. The Sunday Times characterized it as something for those with a strong sense of humor, and a stomach stonger still." While the Observer stated flatly, "A cheap smell of excess."
