Between 1966 and 1971, Dark Shadows was a popular daytime drama that blended the emotional intrigue of a soap opera with the gothic chills of a horror story. The show, which followed the adventures of widow Victoria Winters and the mysterious goings-on at the estate of Collingwood (including frequent run-ins with vampire Barnabas Collins), developed a cult following that endured long after the series went off the air, and in 1991, a new version of the show briefly hit the airwaves.
