Synopsis
Helen (Paltrow) thinks she has attained the perfect life when she moves with her new husband
(Schaech) to the beautiful country estate of Kilronan. There she meets his mother, Martha (Lange), a
radiant southern widow passionately devoted to her only son. But slowly, Helen learns that underneath
Martha's genteel exterior is a manipulative, controlling woman. It is almost too late when she discovers
that her mother-in-law is not only disturbed but also dangerous. She finds herself trapped in a desperate
fight for her marriage, her newborn baby and, ultimately, for her life.
